Thrilling Final Sees Sahil Rawat Triumph Over Ritvik Gupta

The Dream Sports Championship U-15 Table Tennis tournament witnessed an intense showdown in the boys’ category, where Chandigarh’s Sahil Rawat secured the title after a hard-fought seven-set battle against Jammu and Kashmir’s Ritvik Gupta.

Despite losing the first set, Rawat made a strong comeback to win with a scoreline of 6-11, 11-7, 6-11, 11-5, 6-11, 11-9, 11-5. His resilience and skill ensured his victory in this highly competitive match.

Mumbai’s Divyanshi Bhowmick Dominates Girls’ Final

In the girls’ category, Mumbai’s Divyanshi Bhowmick delivered a commanding performance to defeat West Bengal’s Shreya Dhar in straight sets. She clinched the title with an 11-5, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7 victory, reaffirming her position as India’s No. 1 player in the U-15 girls’ division.

Winners Rewarded with Cash Prizes

Indian table tennis stars Sharath Kamal and Sreeja Akula presented the winners with their awards. Sahil Rawat and Divyanshi Bhowmick each received a ₹1 lakh cash prize, while the runners-up were awarded ₹50,000.

Expressing his joy, Rawat emphasized the importance of such incentives for young athletes. “This prize money will help us secure our future. The tournament provided an excellent platform for emerging players,” he stated.

Divyanshi also praised the event, highlighting the well-organized setup and competitive atmosphere. “Listening to inspiring stories from Sharath Sir and Sreeja Ma’am was truly motivating,” she added.

Experts Praise Tournament’s Role in Talent Development

Table tennis legend Sharath Kamal commended the initiative, emphasizing its role in scouting and developing new talent. “This tournament serves as a vital stepping stone for young players. The first step is identifying talent, and grooming comes next,” he remarked.

Olympian Sreeja Akula echoed his sentiments, stating, “This is the first time I’ve seen a youth tournament of this scale. It provided excellent exposure and experience for young athletes. I hope it continues annually.”
