In a major security development, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali, has arrested a key aide of Pakistan-based terrorist Shahzad Bhatti. The arrested individual has been identified as Raman Kumar alias Golu, a resident of Gangyal, Jammu.

Arrest Details and Recovery of Weapon

The police reported that Raman Kumar was brought to Punjab from Ambala Jail on a production warrant linked to an FIR registered at SSOC Mohali, under the Arms Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

  • A foreign-made 0.30 bore pistol was recovered during the investigation, based on the accused’s disclosure.

  • Officials said Raman Kumar had been in regular contact with Shahzad Bhatti and reportedly followed his instructions.

Accused’s Background and Methods

Police sources revealed:

  • Raman Kumar ran a meat shop in Gangyal, Jammu.

  • He came into contact with Bhatti through Instagram, after which communication continued.

  • The recovered weapon was allegedly supplied to him via an operative linked to Bhatti, though no specific target was mentioned at that stage.

Authorities also noted that Raman Kumar was previously arrested by Ambala police in connection with a blast at a local police station, where he allegedly provided financial support to the perpetrators following Bhatti’s directions.
