A powerful explosion occurred at an oxygen manufacturing unit in Phase 9, Industrial Area, Mohali on Wednesday morning, resulting in two fatalities and three injuries, officials confirmed.

According to SDM Damandeep Kaur, the deceased have been identified as Asif (28 years old) and Devinder. The injured individuals are currently receiving medical care.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that a gas leak caused the blast. Due to safety concerns, nearby buildings were immediately evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Locals reported that the explosion shattered windows of the administration block and other nearby facilities. The blast scattered debris and mutilated body parts at the site, with oxygen cylinders damaged and strewn across the area.
